Hello Yvonne
Time for an ICT scheme of work rethink. Longer serving teachers will find
the scheme I'm recommending offers a different and refreshing approach. The
Wokingham ICT Scheme of Work could provide your answer. This scheme has
been piloted within the Wokingham Borough and has been adopted by many
schools up and down the country. Evaluations have been positive and it has
enabled teachers to shrug off the shackles of the QCA, although parts of it
still maintain some QCA material. Based on the QCA ICT Progressions, this
scheme enables children to develop ICT capability whilst engaged in ICT
activities within other subjects as it lends itself to a thematic approach.
The scheme is freely available from the Wokingham Learning Platform site
shown below. Kathy Smedley, ICT Consultant for the Borough of Wokingham and
the ICT Team have worked hard on this scheme and are in the process of
embedding an assessment system within it. Do take a serious look at this
scheme and hopefully you will feel drawn to it.
