The real thing i.e. KS3 ICT APP guidance can be found at http://nationalstrategies.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/node/157533
This official guidance is supported by exemplar materials of student work at particular levels and reasons why levels are attained illustrated clearly throughout the standards booklets. What appear to be missing on the version referred in this thread are, in my view, the most crucial statements i.e. that to demonstrate students have reached a level they must demonstrate the relevant knowledge skills and understanding "across a range of contexts". Also the real APP guidance is not a tick list of statements which give the impression - done this so got the badge and now move on the next level. Where are the references to AfL, the pedagogical principles and curriculum design to facilitate students making effective progress through the programme of study?
Admittedly, there are many issues around APP and how it is implemented in many schools, the conflict between day to day, periodic and transitional assessments when a subject has limited curricular time, not to mention linking to functional skills and other factors. However this has opened up real opportunities to engage with SLT in schools to look at meaningful assessment and tracking procedures that can meet the need of learners and support their understanding of progess.
I thought, perhaps mistakenly, that the tick list approach to learning had at last died and gone away, and that serious educationalists considered how learning takes place and that teachers were looking for guidance on how to support students make effective progress, not what activities can we do that can be ticked off. Copying and pasting bits of a documents onto a web page, with no apparent guidance or mediation is generally less than helpful to teachers who have a difficult enough time actually getting to grips with the day job.
There are also some dangers in simply taking something designed for secondary and expecting it work in primary schools but it is good start.
RANT over!!

John

I don't think so, someone asked for copies of the APP criteria so I
posted a link to them.

Is there some problem with that?

NAACE rules do not forbid anyone from making relevant comments and many
people on these lists work in the commercial sector.
