Yes, John, agreed.  But my concern is that firstly I do not believe that all
schools do have an effective and practical policy in place that is capable
of dealing with the nuances of any form of bullying.   It might be 'well
catered for' as you say, but not equally taken up.  Secondly the nuances of
older or younger than 18 need to be understood, and thirdly that it was the
actual persons who immediately dealt with the situation who were apparently
not clear of their responsibilities in order to deal effectively and quickly
with the situation before it went any further.

A sad story but lessons to be learnt and possibly acted upon by schools.
Risk assessment of every possible form of sexting should be well thought
through and logical outcomes/action for each school situation must be
clearly documented in order to enable quick and appropriate action.
Similarly, the potential for sanctions must be clearly communicated to both
students and parents/carers before any such occurrence.   It seems that in
this case some lack of knowledge of the law by those immediately responsible
meant a failure to nip this in the bud.
