Mike,
I agree with your summary and the need to support the continuation of Becta
and I thank you for taking the time to raise the issue.
Questions:
1 The ICT research papers are invaluable at any time but particularly now
when many councils are seeking to build and equip new schools. Examples
being Vision 2020 and Harnessing Technologies.
2 Retain Becta voice in the field of ICT and retain where specific work is
undertaken to support the use of ICT in learning and teaching.
Continue to produce case studies of best practice to help readers widen
their horizons.
Although based in Scotland I can assure you that Becta is considered to be a
UK-wide agency and invaluable to all working in the field of educational
ICT.
Indeed, the websites I write to support education in Fife would suffer if
Becta was scaled down or closed - at a time of increasing ICT usage in all
aspects of education and the wider community how has this situation
developed?
